Henderson Civic Theater

The Henderson Civic Theater produces live theatre in the historic downtown Opera House on a regular basis, bringing fine arts at its best to the city. In January 1986, a core group of 16 people met to discuss desires and plans to begin a theatre group. The group, which became known as the Henderson Civic Theatre, would promote and support theatrical endeavors by a performing arts group. After organizing, the group produced its first play in April 1986. Now in its 29th season, HCT’s schedule for 2014-15 includes a musical and three full-length productions. The Theatre also has a melodrama, which is performed during the Heritage Syrup Festival, and a children’s production each summer as part of the Summer Drama Camp. For anyone interested in becoming a part of the HCT, all you have to do is come by and sign up. On stage is not the only place where HCT needs talent. The group is always looking for volunteers to help with lights, sounds, costumes, make-up and a variety of other jobs backstage that are essential to a quality performance. Information on upcoming shows, auditions and memberships can be found on their Web site. The Theater is located in the National Registered Historic District
